Analysts/Associate; Commodities/Energy Credit Structuring and Underwriting – Houston
Highly-regarded and growing international bank seeks 2 analysts and an associate for credit structuring and underwriting roles, to analyze senior, mezzanine and equity investments in the commodities and energy sector. Individuals will work on this risk management team alongside senior bankers, collectively responsible for managing the North American credit and equity portfolio for the institution.
The role will include detailed credit analysis and monitoring of both new credits and an existing portfolio; as candidates progress, new transactions will comprise a more significant portion of the workload. It should be noted that highly-structured transactions will frequently be the subject of analysis, and will require some knowledge of intercreditor issues, derivative products, and physical commodities.
Analysts will have 1-3 years of post-undergraduate experience with commodities or a similar industry, and will likely have some work experience with bank loans or fixed income. At the associate level, candidates will have 1-2 years of post-graduate experience, and ideally be formally credit trained, though work experience may satisfy the training or degree requirement (i.e., individuals with 3-5 years of experience with no graduate degree will be considered). For the senior role, the expected level of analytical work and familiarity with loan documents will naturally be higher.
Written communication skills, a team-work oriented demeanor and the ability to work independently are paramount for all roles. The group is focused on structuring, and writing credit applications for, new loans and investments, with additional responsibility for managing the credit (i.e., annual reviews).
