Description
Ares Management’s Tradable Credit Group is seeking a Jr. Analyst to join the Global Special Situations (GSS) team in Los Angeles.
The GSS team’s strategy seeks to capitalize on current and anticipated dislocated and out-of-favor assets by flexibly deploying capital across multiple asset classes. This strategy focuses on first and second-lien bank loans and high yield bonds as well as equities and other securities in reorganized entities that are trading at stressed or distressed levels.

Requirements
Primary Function & Essential Responsibilities

  • Preparation of periodic financial summaries for portfolio investments
  • Preparation of both discrete and complex analyses used to analyze cash flows, relative valuation and other critical metrics of current and prospective portfolio investments
  • Preparation of investment recommendation memoranda to present to the firm’s investment committee Direct communication with Wall Street Analysts regarding current and prospective portfolio investments
  • Participation in weekly investment committee meetings with senior level professionals
  • Calculation, monitoring and reporting of various industry-specific metrics to Senior Analysts
  • Development of financial models for new portfolio investments

Position Reports To: Head of Tradable Credit

 

Skills & Abilities

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years of investment banking experience Strong foundation of accounting principals
  • Advanced knowledge of buy-side fixed income and distressed assets
  • Drafting/presenting credit memos to investment committees ideal

Requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and job prioritization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a group on special projects
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast paced environment
  • Strong negotiating skills

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • BA/BS in Economics, Accounting or Finance
