Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager – New Orleans, LA  

 

 

 

As a member of the risk management organization at Regions, this position serves as the second line of defense, with the sales team serving as the first line of defense, in assessing the potential risks of existing and proposed transactions. The individual will work closely with credit and sales teammates to assist in underwriting credits, researching new credit opportunities and performing portfolio administration duties. They will attend client prospect meetings, gather information and perform research in order to identify, quantify and mitigate underwriting risk inherent in a commercial lending function. The individual will be expected to develop strong working relationships with credit teammates, sales teammates, credit officers and other bankers. In some markets, this associate may be assigned a portfolio of credits for which they will have primary portfolio management, monitoring and oversight responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Analyzes individual company performance and the impact of industry and competitive dynamics and macroeconomic events on the creditworthiness of clients and prospects
  • Expands client relationships by applying knowledge of credit policy, pricing and structure to develop solutions that meet the client’s needs and the Bank’s risk acceptance criteria
  • Provides an independent, in-depth analysis of financial statements, projections and business plans; identifies and mitigates key risks
  • Determines the appropriate risk rating for a company, proactively identifying risk rating changes
  • Recommends and models appropriate loan structures and completes profitability models
  • Analyzes enterprise value through comparable analysis and discounted cash flow analysis
  • Performs additional analysis as required by policy for leveraged loans
  • Prepares informative, well thought out and concise credit approval documents for new loans, amendments and renewals
  • Actively participates in research, preparation and execution of customer calls
  • Works autonomously, with little supervision
  • Leads discussions with credit approvers
  • Actively manages financial reporting requirements, covenant requirements, past dues and documentation exceptions
  • Maintains credit files in good working order; ensures files are complete with all up to date information
  • Completes timely ongoing periodic credit servicing of loans within the portfolio including analyzing historical financial performance, performance vs. projections, covenant compliance, risk rating and any other significant risk drivers
  • Ensures compliance with internal bank commercial loan policy, credit risk management policy and external regulatory requirements; documents any exceptions to policy and related rationale/mitigants
  • Reviews internal and attorney prepared loan documents to ensure accuracy as compared to the credit approval package; works closely with paralenders to ensure timely completion
  • Serves in a credit leadership role by actively participating in the training and mentoring of junior teammates to help build a best-in-class credit organization
  • Participates in post-closing inspection as part of a continuous monitoring credit risk management framework and develops action plans for deteriorating credits


This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • Completion of a major corporate credit training program (or the equivalent corporate banking/corporate finance experience)
  • Seven (7) years of commercial banking experience
  • Significant accounting, finance and capital markets knowledge and commercial banking experience
